CANU rank hospitalized after accident

A CANU (Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit) rank is hospitalized with spinal injuries after the car that he was travelling in flipped over on the Timehri public road, East Bank Demerara yesterday.

Lennox Richmond, 53, of Hand-en-Veldt, Mahaica was admitted to the High Dependency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) to where he was rushed following the accident. He was among several other CANU ranks who were travelling in the vehicle when the incident occurred in the afternoon. Unconfirmed reports state that the car the men were in was trying to overtake another vehicle but the driver lost control and the car turned over.

Another rank, Frederick Gaspar, 33 was also taken to the GPH where he was treated and sent away.

Meantime, yesterday afternoon a man was found in the Mocha backdam. His name was only given to hospital officials as ‘Wilson’ and there were several abrasions about his body. He was admitted to the male medical ward of the institution.
