Six generators with a total capacity of 8.5MW have been set up at the Versailles Power Station and will benefit consumers in West Demerara. This comes against the backdrop of completed installation and activation of voltage regulators at Stanleytown and Leonora.

With an availability of 8.5MW, electricity supply has returned to a state of normalcy to those areas, this is according to a press release sent by Guyana Power and Light (GPL). The power company is however advising consumers that line maintenance activities will continue as per schedule and will result in isolated load shedding.

The release said that load shedding schedules will be published in the print media when the need arises.

GPL has recommended that consumers heed the call for conservation and assist in the reduction of peak demand thus ensuring that the lone feeder capacity is not exceeded.

The power company has expressed gratitude to all customers for their patience during the past few weeks and is reminding that if you are not using it, “Switch it off, plug it out.”
