11 more Amerindian communities to get titles

The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs said eleven more Amerindian communities will be granted land titles.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Minister of Amerindian Affairs Pauline Sukhai during a recent visit to regions eight and nine, said Eclipse Falls, Four Miles, Kariako, Tasserene, Batavia, Kambaru, Tuseneng, Karisparu, Erfoimo/Parabara, Katoonarib and Riversview will be given titles. There are now 96 titled villages.

GINA said on July 27, at the third biennial National Toshao Council meeting, eleven land title certificates were handed over to several Amerindian communities including Chinese Landing, Muritaro, Great Falls, Malali, Nappi, St Ignatius Homestead and St Ignatius Farmlands, Tobago and Wauna Hill, Karau, Kwebanna and Waikrebi. Communities are titled according to the processes and procedures stipulated in the Amerindian Act.
