Goed Fortuin man unconscious after accident

A 34-year-old man was yesterday admitted a patient to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) in an unconscious state after being hit by a motor car on the Goed Fortuin Public Road on Sunday.

According to relatives of Pradeep Ramdin, from the reports they received, he was standing on the public road at Goed Fortuin when a car that was reportedly speeding crashed into him. Pradeep of Goed Fortuin Squatting Area, West Bank Demerara (WBD) is said to have sustained severe head injuries.

Sarita, a relative of the man with whom this newspaper spoke said that the driver of the car has since been taken into custody assisting with investigations.

The 34-year-old is attached to a life support machine and is battling for his life. Relatives remain hopeful that he would soon regain consciousness and that his condition would improve. Ramdin’s condition is listed as stable but critical.

The GPH in a release said that at 18:50 hours on Sunday, Ramdin arrived at the Accident and Emergency Unit after he was reportedly hit by a car while he was standing on the Goed Fortuin Public Road.

He sustained head injuries and was seen and admitted to the ICU.
