The PPP is urging Hindus and the nation to use the period of Diwali for introspection and to seek ways to elevate themselves spiritually to acquire wisdom.

In a press release the party extended wishes that the day illuminates the lives of all and brings with it peace, joy, happiness and prosperity. It said “we should seek not to illuminate our external surroundings but to make introspection and find that divine light within.”

In keeping with this the party said lighting a lamp symbolises the destruction, through knowledge, of all negative forces, violence, lust, anger, greed, fear, injustice, oppression and suffering.
It said too during this period persons should not be focused only on acquiring material wealth and desires but they should appreciate the divinity of the occasion.
