Bandits grab $$, jewels in Friday raids

Two men were held up by gun- toting bandits at separate locations in the city on Friday night and relieved of the cash and jewellery, they had in their possession.

A senior police officer in `A’ Division said that around 22:00 hrs, Christopher Braithwaite, a mechanic,  was in the vicinity of Orange Walk, Bourda when two men armed with hand guns accosted him.

They reportedly relieved him of three gold chains and a wallet containing $8,300 before making good their escape in a waiting motor car.

Then at around 23:30 hrs, Chris Seymour was sitting in front of his Riverview Ruimveldt home with a friend when two men came up with guns and stuck him up.

One of the gunmen relieved him of $17, 000 and a gold chain while the other discharged a round into the air.

They then fled the scene on foot, this newspaper was told.
