WWF donates books to library

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) recently handed over a number of books to the Environmental Corner of the National Library.

In a press release the WWF said the Corner was established in April 2008 after a partnership. It features audio-visual equipment including a television and a DVD player along with a collection of DVDs and other publications. Visitors will also be able to view documentaries pertaining to various issues concerning the environment in Guyana and around the world. It is hoped that the books will promote interest in environmental issues among children and pre-teens. The Corner caters for children ages seven to 14 years.

The WWF said the donation is in keeping with its efforts to promote better awareness of environmental issues and knowledge of the natural environment.
