Ceremonies for Kartik Snaan being held today

The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha (GHDS) is hosting a series of pujas today to commemorate Kartik Snaan.

In a press release the GHDS said Kartik Purnima/Kartik Snaan/Teerath marks a special day for spiritual reflection and conducting Satnarayan Puja in the evening. The ceremonies will be organised by the praants across the regions and will be held at the following foreshores: the Upper Corentyne at Skeldon foreshore with officiating pandit Dinesh Harilall, the Central Corentyne at Bushlot foreshore with officiating pandit Krishna Outram, East Berbice at Canje Creek with officiating pandit Ravi, West Berbice at Number Two foreshore with officiating pandit Arjune Balkaran.

Ceremonies will also be held on the East Coast Demerara at the Better Hope foreshore with officiating pandit Hemant Rampersaud, in Georgetown at the Kitty foreshore, Vlissengen Road with officiating pandit Bramhanand Prashad, West Coast Demerara at the Anna Catherina foreshore with officiating pandit Jagmohan Persaud and at Parika at the Bushy Park foreshore with officiating pandit Mukesh. In Essequibo pujas will be held at the foreshores in most villages.

GHDS President Reepu Daman Persaud sees Kartik Snaan which occurs on the full moon day in the month of Kartik as a day for spiritual reflections and contemplation. Collective chanting and singing possesses the power to stimulate and invigorate those who are absorbed in Kirtan and bhajans. The public is invited.
