No.56 man shot in neck, jewels stolen

A Corentyne man was shot in the neck on Saturday night by bandits who robbed his home of an undisclosed sum of cash and a quantity of jewellery.

Dineshwar Tameshwar, 46, of Number 56 Village, Corentyne, has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) after initially being taken to the Skeldon Hospital.

According to a police release at around 18:30 on Saturday night Dineshwar’s wife, Yapattie, was in their kitchen when she was held at gunpoint by three men armed with handguns and who had entered the home through an open door. The men took her upstairs where they confronted Dineshwar and shot him in his neck in the process.

They then took away an undisclosed sum of cash along with a quantity of jewellery and escaped, the release said.
