The Regional Democratic Council of Region 10 last Thursday displayed a warm spirit in hosting a farewell and inauguration ceremony for its outgoing and incoming Regional Education Officers (REdO).

Outgoing REdO Marcel Hudson served the region for two-and-a-half years but had to leave to take up his new appointment as Principal Education Officer in the Ministry of Education.

Speaking at the ceremony Hudson described Region 10 as a good training ground. “Region 10 is a very good training ground, it has a history that if any person sits in the seat as REdO they later  move on to a higher position and it is because the ground is fertile, Region 10 changes you so when you go certain places you are at an advantage because you are familiar with people asking for what they should get.”

“And I could never forget Region 10 – I was married for a number of years and never had a child but while here in Region 10 my wife bore a son so Region 10 is fertile in every sense and I will never forget this place,” Hudson  said lightheartedly.

Meanwhile incoming REdO Claude Johnson said it was a first for him being invited to an inauguration ceremony. In his speech he pledged to work in the best interest of the people of Region 10. He said that his task would be a challenging one since he would be forced to maintain the standard set by his predecessor or take it to a higher level.
