Blood bank in urgent need

The National Blood Trans-fusion Service has issued an urgent call for blood saying that it is currently experiencing a severe shortage of all blood types.

Health Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy said in a press statement yesterday that the blood bank has a shortage of mainly types B-Positive and B-Negative. He appealed to regular and new donors to come forward and donate blood to assist persons in need and those who need surgeries.

Blood donations can be made at the blood bank, the Georgetown Public Hospital and the public hospitals at New Amsterdam, West Demerara, Linden and Suddie.
