A 39-year-old man died at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) on Monday after being struck down by a vehicle while crossing the Zeeburg, West Coast Demerara public road on Sunday.

Dead is Chandra Lall of Zeeburg. Police said in a press release that Lall was struck down at about 9:45 pm on Sunday. Investigations so far have revealed that the man attempted to cross the public road and was struck down by the driver of motor car PLL 5364. He was taken to the GPH where he subsequently died on Monday, the statement said.

The driver of the car is in custody assisting with investigations.
