Brothers stabbed during football game

Two brothers were stabbed during a dispute while they were playing football at Paradise, East Coast Demerara yesterday.

The incident occurred after midday. According to reports Carlos Adams and his brother, Quincy were playing a game of football in the field opposite their Factory Road, Paradise home with several other persons when a dispute erupted.  The reason for the dispute was not immediately clear but one report said that it was because of a “tackle”.

During the course of the quarrel, the brothers’ assailant pulled out a knife and stabbed them both. Carlos was stabbed in the left side of his back while Quincy was stabbed in the right side of his head. Quincy was treated and sent away while Carlos was taken to the operating theatre where he remained up to yesterday afternoon. Relatives and players who were present at the hospital yesterday declined to comment.

The police have been notified about the incident. It is not clear whether the stabber has been arrested.
