The husband of Heerawattie Tekram, the woman found hacked to death on Friday is to appear in court today, charged with her murder.

The 43-year-old woman was found with chop marks about her body at about 5:45am on Friday, shortly after her sister-in-law heard screams coming from the home.

Her daughters discovered Tekram lying on the ground with her throat and face, neck, back and head bearing chop marks.

Her husband, Azim Khan, a labourer was taken from the backdam to help with the investigation.
