Aaron Bethune, President of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club told Stabroek News in an interview on Monday that the spectator “was in no way physically harmed” by the accident and was treated only for “shock and trauma.”

According to Bethune, the man was seen and treated by a medical team that would usually be present at the activity to deal with emergencies as they may arise.

The President said that the accident occurred during the final race of the event when Guyanese driver Shivnanand Seebaran’s racing car collided with one of the cars driven by a Barbadian participant. He added that neither of the drivers was injured.
Safety of spectators at racing meets has been an issue over the years.
