‘Bling’ accused of ganja trafficking at Kwakwani

Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday ordered that a 23-year-old taxi driver be remanded to prison when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrate’s court for allegedly being found with a quantity of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Junior Stephens called ‘Bling’ of Three Mile, Bartica-Potaro Road, pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

He denied that on November 14, at Sandhill Backdam, Kwakwani, Berbice River, he had 331 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The prosecution objected to Stephens’ bail application when he suggested it, on the grounds that the cannabis was  found on his person when the police conducted a search on him.

The magistrate then ordered that the case be transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for November 24.
