The Ministry of Education is set to re-employ several retired teachers and head teachers in January.

According to the Government Information Agency, more than sixty retired teachers and head teachers yesterday met with Education Minister Shaik Baksh. During the meeting, he addressed the concerns of the teachers who responded to the Ministry’s call for retired teachers to return to serve the country.

The retired teachers were chosen from over 100 applicants and once selected should return to work from January. Some of these teachers will be sent to schools in the hinterland areas.  The teachers, however, are being given the opportunity to state their preference before the final date of acceptance, the release stated.
