Yellow it is for all taxis

From August next year all taxis are expected to be yellow.

According to a press release yesterday from the Home Affairs Ministry, the decision was taken at a follow-up meeting held between the Representatives of Taxi Service Providers and the Ministry on Wednesday.

The release said that at the meeting, some persons suggested green and orange as alternative colours, but in the end the majority opinion prevailed.

Those gathered were reminded of the commitment made by the President that the government will fund a specially tailored training programme for chauffeurs. Additionally, the Licence and Frequency fees will be waived for a two-year period.

The release further stated that “the cost of the specified paint to be used on the Taxis will be examined” and the convening of a meeting with the Taxi Service Operators at the Cheddi Jagain International Airport, Timehri will be actively pursued.
