A woman was on Tuesday found with over a kilo of cocaine hidden under her wig at Lethem. On the same day, two teenage girls were also found with marijuana at their Essequibo Coast School, police reported last evening.

The police, in a statement, said that at about 11am on Tuesday, ranks conducted a search on a female Guyanese passenger of a bus at the Lethem Multi-purpose Centre. Ten packets of cocaine with a total weight of one kilogramme, 10 grammes were found concealed in a wig she was wearing at the time. She was arrested and is in police custody assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, the police are also investigating an incident where two 15-year-old female students of a secondary school in Essequibo were found with a total of 22 grammes of marijuana in their possession while at school. The incident also occurred on Tuesday.

The two females along with a 16-year-old male student of the same school are being questioned in this matter, the police said.
