Robbed on Stone Avenue

A resident of Blygezeight Gardens was robbed of jewellery on Monday night when four men, one of whom was armed with a handgun attacked him on Stone Avenue, Campbellville.

During the attack, the man managed to escape into a nearby shop and as the bandits fled they discharged a round which shattered the windscreens of a car.

Police in a press release last evening said that they are investigating the armed robbery during which Hemant Chattergoon was attacked and robbed by four men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Investigations revealed that around 19:15 hours Chattergoon was walking along the roadway when a silver grey motor car approached with the men inside. Two of the men exited the vehicle and held him at gunpoint and took away his jewellery.

The release added that the man managed to escape and ran into a nearby variety store which is located on Stone Avenue. While there he saw the vehicle with the men passing and heard an explosion.

On checking it was found that the front and rear windscreens of motor vehicle PCC 8792 which was parked on the premises were damaged, the release added.
