Armed bandits rob chowmein factory

Five armed men on Sunday attacked two women who were cleaning the Chowmein Factory at Patentia, West Bank Demerara and later escaped with cash and other items.

Police said in a release yesterday that the men are suspected to have escaped in boat via the Demerara River.

Investigations, the release added, revealed that Chandroutie Deochand and her daughter were cleaning up when the men, four of whom were armed with firearms and one with a cutlass, confronted them. The men later took away $200,000, a sealing machine and a DVD player.
Investigations are continuing.
