Five hurt in East Coast crash

Five persons were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital last night after a car and minibus, reportedly speeding, ended up in a ditch just after the junction at Company Path and the East Coast Demerara Public Road.

Reports are that minibus BKK 7653 and a motor car were both speeding along the southern carriageway of the double lane road shortly before the accident.

Minibus passengers Esther Simon, Marilyn Dawson, Debbie Sampson and Donald Pierson along with a lone passenger from the car, Mark Ramsaroop, were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital for medical attention. None of them, according to hospital sources, was seriously injured.

At 10 pm the accident victims were still in the hospital’s emergency room awaiting medical attention.
