The idea of the two-week (well it could be of a different duration) event in August is an excellent one. There is another issue though. What if in Guyana there is an effective demand for only duck-curry artists, so to speak? Will this event degenerate into one that admits little variety, supporting only those artists who can produce duck-curry entertainment? I guess I'm saying that it's not just the cultural engine, and the ever-present disposable income constaints, but preferences and tastes that would also seem to matter. A very nice article.
