SEAMAN, you have missed out Stabroek News ,which has done a sterling job of posioning the minds of Guyanese against Barbados.
What a pity that SN did not see it fit to carry the story from its sister rag The Barbados Nation/Sunday Sun, ( who incidentally could be added to that list,)under the heading
DEPORTEES VOW TO RETURN, where two of the so-called "deportees" were interviewed, and denied any bad treatment by the authorities. But the whole object of the exercise was to bully PM Thompson before the recent Caricom Conference.Barbados had its 10 minutes , now its on to Trinidad.

But - to quote you: can countries such as Barbados and Trinidad solve the "problem" of - as you yourself said
GUYANESE STEALING FROM THEIR OWN GUYANESE EMPLOYERS AND BANKRUPTING THE VERY BUSINESSES THAT ARE ALLOWING THEM TO PUT BREAD ON THEIR TABLES?

Hmmmm...Guyanese, whether at home or abroad, appear to be a rather Risky Proposition. But then, I suppose YOU already know that.

As Bajans we shall not be moved. Our laws shall be obeyed. If you are illegal in BIM regularise your status or risk removal. Simple. If Guyanese and whoever dont like it they can lump it. We know Jagdeo and Gonzalves with help from their friends Ramphal, Ricky Singh, Faria and the rest working over time to hurt Barbados. Their baseless lies are meant to destroy Barbados tourism and collapse our economy. They hate Barbados because we sacrificed and worked hard to become the greatest small country on earth. Be warned Jagdeo, Gonzalves + co it aint gonna work. We know what you are doing and what we have to do. Stay tuned.

Yarrow, with all due respect, did you read the comment from the wife of the cash crop farmer?

It is, by her words not mine, very difficulty for Guyana to enter the broader fruit and vegetable export markets. They are not getting help from the gov't, the food not passing inspections and are improperly labelled.

You in America and not knowing that JA is refusing to buy Guyanese rice! That is a much more blatant rejection of CARICOM than a bench at Grantley Adams.

Barbados buys Guyanese timber, Trini oil and Gas and also imports food products from JA.

People so hung up on movement of people, when movement of goods and services and value-added products and FIRM commitments to buy in the region would go further to sustaining all of us.

Brazil has taken over the sugar exportation market and has become the darling of the EU. You think if Guyana aligned with Brazil, Brazil would EVER think to free up any market share to Guyana? NEVER!

SO while wunna believe that you can do without CARICOM. I do urge you to see what your South American neighbors are doing and seriously ask why their diplomats and elected officials are not beating down your doors.

I'd rather Barbados and the rest of the CARICOM buy intra-regionally as it will better insulate us against price increases, value undercut and susceptibility to trade interruptions.

Size does not matter. You can be as big as you want in relation to the West Indian islands, but if there is no good reason to trade with any of us, we all lose.

People are making Guyanese saints but they actions and conduct here in Barbados does not imply such. Barbados has always been very kind to our caribbean bros and sis, we are the leaders in fulfilling our commitment to caricom, where does Guyana stand in that respect. Please Guyanese people stay out of the internal affairs of Barbados and demand that your Leaders put systems in place to empower the people of Guyana and stop depending on us.

The problem of Guyanese being mistreated in other countries is a very irritating one. I does not help when we acquired a reputation of not being law abiding. Some commit criminal acts and add to the crime problems of some countries. Even overstaying one's time is an act of disobedience. The ultimate solution is for jobs to be created in Guyana so that Guyanese can stay and develop our country which is in severe need of development. In order to create jobs we need investment from both local and foreign sources. Guyanese must work to protect the jobs that are created by not stealing from their employers and bankrupting the very businesses that are allowing them to put bread on their tables. Some of those same countries such as Barbados and Trinidad can solve the problems of Guyanese flooding their countries by encouraging investing to create jobs in Guyana.
