There is an urgent need for homes/shelters for the victims of domestic violence and their children . The ministry of finance needs to provide the funds for the construction of the homes/shelters . The police must take complaints more seriously . There should be joint-partnerships between government agencies and non-governmental organisations to counsel the perpetrators of domestic violence . There is also a cultural factor which is being ignored and until the people of Guyana accept the reality of this issue , the senseless murders and sometimes suicides , will continue . These barbaric attitudes displayed by some Guyanese men need to be addressed immediately. They needed to be disciplined and reminded how to act like a human being and not like some kind of unscrupulous entity. The government need to take serious measures and look into this dilemma which has been going on for much too long. Guyanese women need to get together and protest this to the Guyana President. They need to form a neighborhood watch group and support each each other especially when violence arises.Women grouping together can do amazing things. I'm a Guyanese living abroad and it's shameful to see how Guyanese women meet their death through domestic violence. Guyanese women need to unite and put an end to this disgusting mentality that is is so widespread among some Guyanese men. I can imagine most of it is alcohol associated. Unite,show your strength, and make a difference. Show your appreciation, respect and dignity to your Guyanese women, they are Guyana's most precious JEWEL.... you owe it to them..think of where YOU came from !!! Why abuse them now? Set and example to your young ones.You can make a change,give peace and love a chance.
