Dear Editor,
A Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and the entire management! It is no coincidence that my first correspondence for 2009 is positive.
My letter on Monday, December 15, in this newspaper which issued a special call to President Bharrat Jagdeo concerning no bonuses for teachers this year apparently did its job. I was afraid that the President was not going to get to read the letter as he was out of the country at the time of publication. However, I was pleased to see the report in the Stabroek News last Monday about the increases for public servants. I must openly thank President Jagdeo for being very understanding of the urgent need for extra cash by public servants.
Whether one agrees or not, this government has delivered and delivered well on its promises, even up to year ending December 31, 2008. They have been working very hard as can be seen on Flood-TV (NCN) over the past couple of days. They have given Berbicians the Berbice River Bridge, even though now the complaints have begun about the toll which I, too, believe is very, very high. Surprisingly or not, we still have people opting to use the pathetic ferry service just to avoid paying high tolls, and you can’t blame them. But we appreciate a bridge link to the rest of Guyana.
Thank you, Mr President. You have demonstrated what a hard-working public servant you are in these trying times in Guyana. I truly hope that the parliament gives you the option of a third term in office. You really deserve that.
Yours faithfully,
Leon Jameson Suseran

A gon mek dis short. The writer of that article has got to be a sycophant, myopic, dumb blind and deaf and I am saying dis in a nice way.
I support your call for a third term – the living standards have improved tremendously under President Jagdeo’s leadership.
You do know that security, safety, decent income and things like affordable water and electricity are all considered in the standard of living index, right?
I find it laughable that you commend the building of fancy buildings and infrastructure when you admit in the very same sentence that people cannot afford them. That is the true test for your standard of living views.
The view from where, LALA land?
Moderator, can you please say whether this government was pregnant with ideas and if they have given birth after 17 years……can you? Because i haven’t seen them delivered.
I can see the smiles on you face Leon, you get a
big/nice bonuse just in time for the new year.
Leon Jameson Suseran why not make him president for LIFE? I wonder would feel the same way abou Mr. Corbin.
On the other hand since you you have so much influence perhaps you can get the goodly president to give CLC their subvention (s).
I recommend Leon James Suseran for Leader of the Opposition. His overarching influence and direct access to our beloved presdident can help resolve a number of pressing issues. Mr. Suseran can help alleviate the rampant incompetence which led to the flooding, he can help with the torture report and perhaps a little teacher spanking for the offenders who “roughed up” the complainants, extra-judicial killings – Leon should give us his suggestions in this regard, corruption in the Office of the President…..should I continue….Leon we await your intervention!
…and we also wait with bated breath his reaction to the US DEA’s inititiative to rid the country of the dreaded cartel leaders. wonder where he will end up?
Mr Suseran you are now giving me a belly full of laughs.
History will prove the PPP a failure solely on the basis of not holding local elections in umteen years. U can not fight for free and fail elections and turn around and do the same as the PNC. There can be no excuse for not holding elections when u have a majority.
It appears that, this Suseran dude is a very self centered individual, once his problems are solved then everything is fine and to hell with everybody else’s problems. Mind you, before any year end bonus for Public Servants was announced, I recall that, this same flip-flop Suseran was complaining in the letter section of the newspapers about the announced bonus for the joint services only. Then all of a sudden, a little green trickle down from the Gov’t and everything is terrific again, how convenient bannas??
Balgobin Hackett was right about you and this divide and conquer mentality all along. Besides everybody knows that, Berbice is much more than just the ancient county, yea! I remember finding forty pieces of silver there once Mr Moderator.
I hope the parliamentary opposition parties are paying close attention, because it appears that, Berbice will succumb to the color green.
Doesn’t he sound familiar? I can think of another who sounds just like Suseran.
The president has delivered around HUNDREDS OF SLAUGHTERED, MAIMED AND SCARRED FOR LIFE GUYANESE, MANY OF WHICH ARE HIS OWN SUPPORTERS. And the fact that there is no sign this is about to change anytime soon – definitely not since we do NOTHING about drug trafficking and administrative responsibility.
I will praise the President and his admin when they start to show RESPECT for Guyana – ALL Guyana.
