Dear Editor,
My Mahaicony family suffered another loss with the flooding. All their cash crops, chickens and sheep perished. We will offer assistance but the suffering needs more than assistance from families. The government has got to do something. People have the banks to pay, but the floods have destroyed their produce. Their children have to eat, but there is no money.
The government knew this flood was coming. This is no new crisis. Floods happened before and this one should not be a surprise. The land needs proper drainage to take off the water. The rivers need dredging. People are paying rates and taxes and all we are getting in return is destruction of our produce, land and houses.
This government is not looking after people. People are sick over their losses. If you talk they accuse you of supporting Mr Sharma or the PNC. My relatives voted for the PPP but they are suffering like hell. Who is going to help them now?

So, de question now is are they going to vote PPP again after de blows de being tekking? And I agree they should be compensated for their losses as these floods are more man-made and de result of incompetence more than anything else. Holland below sea level and dey don’t flood.Better yet, get yu family to migrate like all awee because I can’t see things getting better in Guyana in my lifetime and I am in my 30’s.At least I enjoying a better quality of life in the mother country.
It’s a new year, artificial and arbitrary and contrived, though it be, but try stop pelting cups and palm trees at each other and scoring useless points. Instead offer something constructive, useful, helpful, insightful, etc.

Nice!!! to hear that they voted for PPP. I knew it before you said so. Sad that they voted for race, inept, incompetence and corruption rather than look at which party offered the best program for economic progress and prosperity. Like Pres. Jagdeo advise Guyanese to vote for Obama, I trust that you will advise your relative(s) not to vote with their feet (RACE) the next time.

Of the three PPP is still the best choice. Until we can agree on someone like Walter Rodney then PPP is the choice..
