Dear Editor,
It’s a shame that the President Jagdeo-led regime talks about developments for youths when  they seem to have little regard for even our young ones. Nursery school pupils at the Roxanne Burnham Nursery have to learn under inhumane circumstances.
There are bushes all around the compound, no proper playground, nothing.

I wonder whether those in office would ever allow their children to attend that particular school?
With all of this, the government spent over $200M for events and lighting at the National Stadium. It’s time that President Jagdeo and his ministers got their act together before it’s too late. We at the Benschop Foundation are prepared to build a decent playground at the nursery school in question.
Yours faithfully,
Mark Benschop

‘bushes all around the compound’. Why did it get to this stage? Who knows what could be lurking in those bushes? I would not send my child there. With no playground the children are being denied the ability to exercise and develop their social skills. It is ‘inhumane’ indeeed as the writer said because even four-footed animals have a big cage to run around in. Our most valuable resource should be treated better than those conditions described.

  2. Ulric UNITED STATES says:

Mr. Benschop is the Nursery school in question a private or public institution? On assumption, based on your call for Government intervention, the school is a public institution. If I am correct, did you or the principal explore funding from the Government regarding the issue before writing to the press? Before I give you my opinion, I would like to hear from you regarding the questions posed. We bloggers want to hear from you. ISNM

stop blocking toll gates and do some community service with your time and weed the bushes instead of complaining. y’all want govt. to do everything.

Quibian my man, I agree with you, we also have a City Council who is responsible for this mess that you are talking about Markie. They collect taxes, don’t they? so stop blaming the Gov’t with petty annoyancies, instead , do some community work. sweetsohany

I thought the school was there prior to Jadgeo – and the name indicates private ownership.

Mr Benschop – with due respect – are you going to run for the Presidendship next election? I gather that you are young, energetic and educated. Guyana would certainly need people like you as its leader. If you are thinking in that line I would advice that you study the life of US President elect – Mr Barack Obama.
You would realize that he reached there through hard work, dedication, respect for others; and pure and kindly heart (love for all humanity).
      God Bless you.

Stop smoking cigarettes? Is the government responsible for playground. Stabroek News is ridiculous for printing such an article whether its from anyone. If the school is a government one, certain improvements have to come from individuals. Playground is a perfect example.
