Dear Editor,

It is amazing to see that Mr Jagdeo wants $210M for his retirement pension, and we the senior citizens of this country who worked and paid our rates must live on $6,300 per month. Burnham and Cheddi must a turn in deh grave.

Yours faithfully,
Leonard George

  1. I cannot understand, I will call that selfish and greedy.

  2. BORAPORK CANADA says:

One of the opposition parties should make it part of their platform to repeal this presidential pension. There is a big difference between being legal and being moral.

  3. Andy UNITED STATES says:

This is the first time I read this figure, is it an accurate figure? What did he do to deserve this kind of money, anyway?

  4. Dindial UNITED STATES says:

The pension he will get is more than the contributions he made to Guyana development. Incompetent is highly rewarded in Guyana. Comrade Cheddie must be crying at what this man is doing to his lean, mean and clean ideology. The decent thing for Jagdeo to do is send the bill back to parliament and ask the MPs to make it more realistic or refuse to sign it. Come Jagdeo show we you a man of decency and care about the working class as Comrade Cheddie used to teach we.

  5. Caesar Agustus UNITED STATES says:

If he gets that, what was his total contribution to NIS? He is making more than he contributed to NIS in a lifetime.Perhaps he also has to pay a big alimony, but that does not reflect this exhorbitant figure.

    • Cheryl UNITED STATES says:

He don’t have to pay alimony, he was not legally married to her, he only has to pay a small amount, he lived with her with this hindu marriage, he nah registered dat, and get off scot free, whether he was legally married to her or not, he lived with her and should pay through his teeth.

  6. Trevon TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO says:

Give the man a break, talking about his contributions, as least he was able to become President and manipulate us Guyanese, especially the ones who sit and question nothing, and you foreign Guyanese running you mouth, that’s all you folks are good for, trying to find more reasons to stay away from guyana, and I’m sure all of you will want to run down my throat, but he deserves something proper as President, contributions at times especially in our current state cannot be measured in immediate effect but expected outcome, for all you know he might have set the foundation for our advancement for by messing up we might become more serious with the electorial process and vote intelligently rather than racially. My take is that his pension should be compared with past Presidents and then perhaps a ten percent increase from what they had. That’s only my take on the situation.
