Dear Editor,
Good things indeed come to those who wait, and I am on cloud nine with Rio De Janeiro being chosen as the host city for the 2016 Olympic and Para-Olympic Games. It’s basically a drive over the Takutu bridge.
In neighbourly friendship, warmest congrats are extended to the Brazilian Ambassador and the people of Brazil for this amazing achievement. It is one that reflects on the entire continent of South America of which Guyana is very much a part and of which I am very proud.
This is the very first time that Olympic Games will be held in South America, I also believe that it should work in favour of the athletic ambassadors of Guyana.
Oprah, the Obamas (Chicago), Tokyo and Madrid, eat your hearts out. This is South America’s call to the world to shine.
Yours faithfully,
T. Pemberton

The gloating in your comments on the failure of the other contestants is unworthy of a true South American. That’s North American. “He who humbles himself shall be exalted.”
Looks like they opened that bridge to Brazil just in time. That’s going to be one busy bridge come Olympics. BTW, Now that’s is in South America, let’s see if we can’t get it in Guyana next time.
T. Pembroke ! Get a life and stop salivating. The Olympics is Brazil’s triumph, not South America’s which, by the way, is not a continent. The continent is America – North, Central America and the Caribbean and South America.
Conratulations to Brazil. A giant among South American nations.A peaceful nation that never caused Guyana, nor it’s neighbors any trouble.
