Tools for learning: The Sunshine Kids of Guyana Forum recently donated US$3,150 and stationery valued US$500 to the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) for the education of orphans. According to a press release the Forum’s directors Neesha, Zalina, Shanaz and Rita Singh of the USA and Canada and formerly of Guyana, made the donation. The CIOG started its orphans and vulnerable children sponsorship programme in 1993 and currently 326 of its 355 children have been sponsored. Previously 249 orphans were awarded scholarships to attend local educational institutions.
