Seven persons sustained minor injuries yesterday after a route 44 minibus slammed into the side of a  car causing it to spin around.
Reports are that the car, HB 1966 was proceeding south along Avenue of the Republic when the minibus, which was proceeding east along Robb Street, slammed into its right side. The impact resulted in the car spinning anti-clockwise.
When Stabroek News arrived on the scene yesterday the driver of the minibus, who declined to identify himself, said that he was about to cross the Robb Street/Avenue of the Republic Intersection when “this white car came out of nowhere”.
The minibus driver explained that there was nothing he could do to avoid the collision and barely missed hitting a nearby lamp post.
Two passengers from the car, inclusive of the driver, and five minibus passengers were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, treated and sent away. The driver of the car sustained minor abrasions to the face.
