The Department of Education in Region Ten (Upper Demerara/Upper Berbice) started off education month observances with a fitness run in Linden recently. Students, teachers and education officers (in photo) ran from the Department of Education office on Republic Avenue Mackenzie, Linden on to Purple Heart Street on to Independence Avenue along Sir David Rose Avenue and finally back on to Republic Avenue.

The Leo Club of Upper Demerara partnered with the Traffic Department of the Police E & F Division at Linden to re-establish three pedestrian crossing signs to facilitate the safe crossing of school children at Mackenzie. The exercise was fully sponsored by the club utilizing funds raised through community activities. Executive members of the club extended heartfelt gratitude to all persons who have supported their activities.
