The effect of the garbage pile up: Unable to keep it any longer, some residents of Hadfield Street yesterday afternoon decided to take matters into their own hands by burning their garbage on the section of D’Urban Park that runs adjacent to the street. However, with the intense dry season the fires got too big resulting in members of the Guyana Fire Service being summoned to put out the blazes. In this photograph a fireman quells one of the fires.
