well deserved promotion except steve and i am not surprised at the police service commission.

  10. Dr Peter Merai UNITED STATES says:

Steve Merai was cleared of all wrongdoing after an extensive police investigation. The businessman who accused him of kidnapping (Steve took them into custody on certain suspicions) has withdrawn his charges and the drug dealer who supposedly taped him has made a statement to the police. CID investigated every aspect of my brother’s finances. It was ugly and painful for him. If he was taking money from a drug dealer he would be a rich man. But Steve, like most police officers, survive on an inadequate basic salary. I have personally sent money numerous times to Guyana for him and my other brothers. Very few Guyanese can walk in the shoes of Steve Merai. I couldn’t do it myself. That man took head on the most rutless and dangerous criminals. I know of a time when his unit busted into a drug house and rescued a young schoolgirl about to be sexually molested all because the mother saw him in the street and begged him for help. He was the TSS leader and could have easily commanded remotely but he was always in the forefront. He was brutlly ambushed and shot in one such operation. In a separate incident ‘gangsta”, one of his men was shot in the chest and survived. These were the true warriors of Guyana. They held crime in check. If Steve and the TSS unit were around you won’t have had the Rose Hall bank robbery, the Agricola rampage, and guys like Fine Man won’t last a week. There is no man alive in Guyana that can say they bribed Steve Merai. In the Black Clothes days you can’t shoot a policeman and get away with it. At one time he migrated to Canada but quickly returned against the wishes of our family. Steve said he must return because criminals were having a good time after he left. However, Mr Felix disbanded the unit upon his return. If you can live the life of Steve Merai you will find out a great deal about an extremely brave and dedicated crime fighter. If the government allowed him to reform the Black Clothes Unit I am sure he will be right back at the forefront. But I hope they don’t because Steve has done enought for Guyana. When Steve was risking his life and those of his men in crime fighting everyone was relieved to have him around but people don’t usually judge a man for his good deeds.

    • john brown UNITED STATES says:

since this man was so good why did he run away with his family to secretly live in Canada ? apparently you are not aware of the crime he allegedly committed and was ushered out of the country. The father of one of his victims hounded him down and found out where he was living and reported him to the canadian authorities. it was found out he was illegally living there and subsequently deported with his family. get your facts correct.

    • badlall CANADA says:

The Steve Merai that you know is an angel ask people whom he has inflicted much pain upon. Police are supposed to charge and put before the courts suspected criminals not kill them. As for his meagre assets driving a north american built 4X4 is a dead give away, i can tell the bloggers here about more assets that does not match his police salary but SN will not print it i am sure.

    • Truly.I followed his brave actions a long time along with Fraser.
He is a true commando and one of the best who put the so call hero BLACKIE from Vergenogen to sleep.

    • Amarie UNITED STATES says:

Poor Peter, I see Steve had you sending him money because he was real “deh bad”. Never mind he driving around in a big car carrying bigger guns. When will you wake up and see what your bro is really up to?
Also,I guess the Guyanese people did not deserve a report of the investigation that resulted in him being “cleared of all wrong doing.. Only you up in Canada were so privileged.

    • LINDENBANNA UNITED STATES says:

THERE IS NO MAN ALIVE IN GUYANA THAT CAN SAY THEY BRIBED STEVE MERAI……This is a very POWERFUL and true statement, and the word ALIVE sends shivers through me, my God..are you serious?, how can you hold a straight face? Anyway, whatever you sow,,you shall reap.

    • yarrow UNITED STATES says:

Peter there is some truth to what the bloggers are saying and if
they are lying on your brother then let Big Jag deliver the test to hear the truth, can I have a witness or wickedness, can you call for it to clear him.

Now you pay attention to what I have to say, it’s evident that your brother is part of what is happening.

The name Gadrage ring a bell. His instruction was final when he was a Minister of the Government and the TSS, boy you remember hired Guns. God bless Felix after he dismantle the whole unit and he personally went after Roger Khan and he said it that there are more Roger Khans (business men/women)out there in the streets of Guyana. Let us continue to follow the RK case…and the out come. The big people at the top soon start biting on themselves, families and friends you watch….mark my words. Guyana is a corrupt, and illegal drug/gun riddle society.

The people of Guyana should call for a full investigation of the Department of Home Affairs. Guyanese people at home are too lazy and lay back awaiting to be supported by family in the US and Canada. It pain to see no group of NGO are not challenging this police promotion what a shame..

    • Mackydog UNITED STATES says:

      Peter Merai,
It’s good for you to “try” to clear your brother’s name as a cop, would you care to clear your other brother John Merai, the ex-mayor of Rose Hall Town who was thrown out of his job as Mayor after allegations of misappropriating RHT Council monies, would you defend him now too?

    • Mackydog UNITED STATES says:

      Peter Merai,
Bobby Merai NEVER returned to Guyana after a short visit to Canada because the bandits were over powering, ..he returned to Guyana after he was REFUSED LANDED IMMIGRANT REFUGEE STATUS in Canada and was ordered to leave Canada.

    • Forbes Moore UNITED STATES says:

Peter. I must compliment you for defending your brother. I do not know about the allegations made against him, so my only comments are.
1.He that is without sin, let him cast the first stone. I can’t.
2.He is one of the bravest men, I have ever known.
      3. Because of his bravery and dedication, Guyana, back then, was a safer place to live, hence his elevation, is well deserved.
LET US NOT THROW OUT THE BABY, WITH THE BATH WATER. I remember him as a young officer, let’s forgive the mistakes of youth. How many of us, with his education and good background, would have undertaken his assignments. I am personally thankful to him, for my safety before I left Guyana. Tell John I said Hi and that 4/22, is just around the corner.
