This has to be one of the dumbest comments I have heard in a very long time. Lets not forget that while the short term gains from the drug activities may be immensely attractive and lucrative. It nevertheless, destroys individuals, families, communities.
In the long run, it takes a lot more resources to repair all the damage caused by drug use and the activities associated with it. The loss of both human and economic capital. the social decadence.

WAH DEA HELL!! you are talking about controling money that is taken out of the country and paying tax on received money. you cerainly does not have any body abroad sending you a SMALL-PIECE we have to pay for sending money home and there are lots of questions asked by the money transfer offices and the the poor family also have to give away part of what they receive Are you from the Inland Revenue or one of these TAX -COLLECTION instutions or something. YUST GET REAL the VAT is more that enough for GUYANESE to pay and talking about taking money into the country guyana should be glad to have a few foreign guyanese who STILL go home to visit relatives and spent
as for taking money out. What is there to take out.when the Guyana dollar does not value as much as 10 Euro cent and further more when ever I go home I WANT TO SPEND NOT ONLY FREELY BUT WILDLY AND BE FREE TO RETURN WITH WHAT IS LEFT OVER without any questions being asked

Drugs Lord take over and running the country, Three (3) massacres, every day killing, Torture.

Now who they will blame “Fine Man” or the people from Buxton for the above drug lord? I am wondering if the Government will set up camp in each of those areas where those individuals who get couth for drug trafficking like they do and treated the people from Buxton.

Debbie… like yuh no wha yuh takin bout…If the vessels in which the drugs are being transported are being properly controlled eventually the drug lords would find another port of distribution our borders that guyana has no contole over makes it easy for all sorts of illegal actitivies. Guyana gets the blame while SUriname, Venezuela and Brazil really are the BOSSES of every border around Guyana,there is enoough Drugs that comes to HOLLAND from south america and there is absouutely no direct connection by air or sea with the exception of suriname, its also the shortest and cheapest way to guyana I think the Surimane borders is the one that has to be onder constant survelance because if drugs comming from venezuela and Columbia passes through Guyana and reaches to holland then suriname has o be one of the port of entry or the port in transit lets hope our ideas would be of some help

The US and Canada has curbed its use of drugs since the 80s. In fact, Guyana has increased its use of drugs, particularly cocaine, exponentially since the 80s. In the light of that information, shouldn’t more drug traffickers target Guyana to increase the sale and accessibility of cocaine to Guyanese?

Is there anything wrong with the US drug barons smuggling large amounts of ecstacy and like drugs to Guyana and specifically targeting Guyanese children and teens?

finally it seems as though the fight against drugs by canu is going in the right direction but i want to know why they jump the georgetown connection and gone till to the borders where the stuff is coming from but hear me people dont get me wrong they`re doing a good job , is just that i believe that if they search regent street they will find much more drugs in the store rooms of some of these places than what the americans and canadians found combined.
