According to reports, Gobin was the conductor of a minibus plying the Parika/ Georgetown route. The suspect, a passenger in the minibus, asked to get off as the bus approached the Flour Mill road in Eccles.

The passenger reportedly paid Gobin with a $1,000 note, and while the conductor was making change, the suspect grabbed all of the money from the conductor’s hands. Gobin retaliated and the man pulled out a firearm and shot the conductor in his abdomen before escaping.
It is believed that the suspect only escaped with $1,000.

Gobin was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was forced to undergo emergency surgery.
Up to press time the man was in the theatre undergoing surgery.

we need some undercover police at the bus park and riding on some of these buses, thats just my thinking as an ordinary citizen. Can’t somebody in the police department come up with some sort of a plan to combat this new wave of robberies on mini buses, come on!

    • love_gt BARBADOS says:

how the police will know which bus to ride on and who the robbers are the don’t carry a sigh say”i am a thief”. So u want the police to just sit and ride on buses all day and nite? you ppl give me jokes.

you looking for more trouble. say what ? police on the bus.

    • Amarie UNITED STATES says:

I think that may be a good idea if the GPF wasn’t so short staffed already. A rotation of plain-clothes police who get into random buses on assigned routes. This may help to deter some crime on and off the buses as the criminals will not know who is in which bus. They just might think twice before commiting the crime.

  4. John Smith GUYANA says:

People in buses are being robbed on that volatile stretch of road for too long and the police seems oblivious. At least pretend that you are doing something and maybe these miscreants will stop their depredations. Like gt_hopeful said, have plain clothe police go ramdomly in bosses and have uniformed police take desultory rides also. This must stop and it must stop now.

Hope there was enough witnesses to ID the bastard.
Seems like everybody carrying a gun now .

Animals like that should not be tried when caught , just throw them in jail and throw away the key !

These conductors should start putting away their cash when it starts to get bulky in their pockets , only keep a small portion on them for change.

  6. LINDENBANNA UNITED STATES says:

A suggestion, the mini buses need to install a drop box where the driver and conductor has no key. The driver and conductor should only have enough money to dispense change up to a certain amount, this MIGHT help to prevent this lawlessness.

  10. Wiggins BARBADOS says:

The governments of the Caribbean must put their heads together and come up with a practicable plan to reduce the criminal activities which are destroying our societies . the police must also gain the confidence of the law-abiding citizens and corrupt policemen/women must be removed from the police forces/departments and where possible , charged and taken before the courts . Let justice be done , though the heavens may fall .
