The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has reminded that April 30 is the deadline for filing all tax returns and says that late returns will automatically incur penalties.
In a press release the GRA said its Total Revenue Integrated Processing System (TRIPS) which requires all taxpayers to have a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) will automatically reveal non-filers and late filers. As such late filing penalties will be processed automatically. In light of this, taxpayers who file income, corporation, property and capital tax returns including PAYE and self-employed taxes are advised to ensure that they file returns within the time specified by law.
The GRA said in order to facilitate taxpayer-compliance it will erect booths in prominent locations in April to demonstrate and assist taxpayers in this exercise. Booths will be erected in Georgetown and its environs as well as at the regional branch offices. The GRA urges taxpayers to not be delinquent and to ensure that all submitted information is “true and correct.”

urging you to pay ontime but look at the service.
I suggest that the GRA allow extensions to file with estimated tax liabilities. This will allow business especially some additional time to file proper returns.
To Filers: I suggest that all file returns on time and amend them later. This will save filers penalties for late filing.
remember that filing is quite separate from paying. Regards
Very very good r s. dasai
Obviously you have some experience as either an accountant
or a taxman.
Most people do not know of this tactic. Complete the return to the best of your ability within the time constraints and then later when you have all your thoughts, facts and figures together, then file an amended return.
No penalty, but pay up when you file!
I destest GRA with the new style of threats. Seems that that is all the thinking they have.
Are they serving the public truthfully, sincerely, and
efficiently?
I doubt it.
But threats emanating? That seems to be the order of the
day.
Shucks man….
GRA when are you going to reduce the taxes on vehicles and equipment to develop the country to 25 % and actually collect the tax from everyone vs the meager 4% you collected on all the vehicles that were imported last year?
When will corruption end in your department sattaur. You used to be considered the only man with integrity in Guyana who can stamp out corruption now you are in the middle of the mess.
Don’t let the PPP anchor take you down big man.
THE WORST OF THEM IS THE NEW AMSTERDAM OFFICE.
…maybe it’s because you don’t fill your forms correctly…i’ve never had problems with them…
samaroo, your stupidity amazes me. the us don’t have corruption?
I payed taxes in this country, and before I left I was own 600.00 in 1977 which was never refunded to me, so why going after the poor when tyou and not refunding the omney to people, shame on you.
