Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday remanded to prison a 23-year-old crop farmer, who is accused of murdering the 10-year-old boy whose remains were discovered in a shallow grave at Maikwak, Upper Potaro two weeks ago.
When Shawn Xavier of Maikwak Village, Upper Potaro, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, he stood in handcuffs in the dock of the court and was told that he was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge of murder.
It is alleged that between February 27 and June 10 this year, Xavier murdered Markinson Felix.
The magistrate subsequently granted Prosecutor Dennise Griffith her request that Xavier be remanded to prison and that the matter be transferred to the Lethem Magistrate’s Court for September 8.
According to reports a hunter in the area stumbled on a grave two weeks ago and the remains were then unearthed.

crime does not pay, i hope the police get it right this time and the court do a good job to stop these criminals. people need to live in peace not die in hell. poor boy had no chance to live. sad
Well, it was a busy year or murderers. In a deserving punishment for these cowardly crimes,I wonder how many murderers are to be hanged this year.
