The Guyana Post Office Corporation says that it has recently been receiving “broached items” from the United States of America.
According to a press release from the Corporation, “this has been the case on a number of occasions although the mailed items are received in sealed mail bags.”
The release stated that “information relating to this recent development has been communicated to the United States Postal Administration for them to conduct investigations into these occurrences.”
Members of the public are urged to take note of this development and are encouraged “to advise their relatives and friends to be cognizant of this phenomenon when posting mail to Guyana.”
The Guyana Post Office Corporation, meanwhile, remains committed “to preserving the integrity of the mail and are therefore doing everything possible to carry out this mandate”, the release said.

Most of us know the hazards of mailing to Guyana:
1. Your mail could end up in Ghana or Paraguay
2. It could be stuck in B’dos or TT.
3. It could be approached, encroached & broached somewhere along the way.
Post and pray.
May I also add nrs 4 and 5?
4. Because of the recession both in the U.S.A and Guyana, people have become desparate.
5. The politicians want to see your political affiliations and views.
The buck did not stop at checking e-mails and telephone conversations.
i wonder who is really de donkey because every time i send a greetings card or birthday card it never reach my relatives in guyana. i never put money in it, but it seems as if people thinking there is money in de envelope just thief the letters. i also send photos several times and sent some important papers back to guyana in a large envelope and it never reach. i had to stop mailing cards or large envelopes to guyana.
all of dem need to be investigated dem in the us and dem in guyana. i tell you this is a crying shame when one cannot send greetings cards back home to their loved ones.
looking for the remittances, eh eheheheheh, guava season is all ova de place.
Sn which one is it, breached or broached?
BREACH BROACH WHO CARES:::LOTS OF POSTAL WORKERS IN AMERIKA AH THIEF JUS LIKE GUYANA POST PEPOL…..EHEHEHEHEHEHEEHE….DEM DOES THIEF HEY IN CANADA TO……
I have no problem receiving my mail from the US postal service. The canadian postal service takes 3 weeks to deliver mail from the USA.
This is a very strange indeed. The US were looking for something, the mails would be scanned. GPOC needs to check it employees on this one!!!
For your info Guyanese with American citizenship work at U.S. Post. I am certain they are using talents perfected in Guyana to continue enriching themselves at the expense of their hard working bretheren. They’ll be caught just like the Guyanese born immigration officer who was demanding sexual favours from visa applicants.
Your comment is true to a point BoraPork about Guyanese working in the US postal system. However, they have scanners and do not need to tamper withe the envelopes. This has to be from another end or layover in another country.
Guyanese at times are too cruel to their own.Are you sendging a message to the US Postal Service not to employ Guyanese? Shame on you sir.
To work in the U.S. postal service you must have U.S. citizenship. It’s also illegal to ask questions about a person’s nationality and therefore people being interviewed for postal decisions do not have to volunteer this information.
The GPOC is making me laugh off of this one. Anything I have sent to them over the years have never arrived successsfully or not opened. Now your saying that they are coming in from the U.S. broached, ” GEETT Real “. The only broaching that is happening is in Guyana or in Trinidad. My bet is on Guyana
Mails are always broached in Guyana for years now, this is not the first time, the thing is nothing is done or no proper security arrangements are put in place, numerous complaints have been made to the head of GPO and years after things remain the same.
with soiree comming up, that is not good news.
Time to FIX your end GPOC and stop blaming me country.
