Vendor remanded after slapping wife

A husband who slapped his wife was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

On July 21 at Georgetown, Dustin Jackson, 28, of 26 Garnett Street, Kitty unlawfully assaulted Candacy Sutton.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful assault when it was read to him by the Acting Chief Magistrate.

The virtual complainant (VC) told the court that on the day in question she had an argument with the defendant who is also her husband. During the argument the VC said that Jackson dealt her a slap.

“Is not de first time he slapping or hitting me meh worship,” Sutton stated.

The matter was called to the bench where a discussion ensued.

The clothes vendor was subsequently remanded to prison until July 27 for a probation report.
