Dear Editor,

I was still at school when I first saw Janet Jagan, after being sent by an uncle to Jagan’s dental clinic to make an appointment. Well I decided that when I got a wife she must be like Janet Jagan, so I did. So much so, that when my wife was an EAB observer during the last election campaign monitoring a public meeting at Herstelling, and the speaker mentioned Janet Jagan, one listener remarked, “Look she hey!”

Well Janet Jagan made her contribution to Guyana in so many ways and she will be remembered by all of us who recognize her for the good she did.

As for me I will remember Janet for throwing away the court order when the opposing party tried to prevent her swearing in as president. I watched the incident on TV live and I said then she did the right thing, and I said so in a letter to your newspaper.

To Joey and the PPP family I say let us not mourn, let us rejoice and be glad she gave the greater part of her life for the improvement of the lives of the Guyanese people.

Of the founder members of the PAC Ashton Chase is still with us going good and strong, let us give him the respect due to him also.
