No religious Easter photos in the newspapers

Dear Editor,

Have the daily newspapers boycotted the publicizing of the traditional celebrations of Good Friday and Easter, and perhaps even Palm Sunday? In years past, I can recall newspapers, especially the Stabroek News publishing pictures of Palm Sunday processions from Georgetown and photos of Good Friday services as well − nothing this year.

While many newscasts and even a Government Information Agency (GINA) feature highlighted  Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the true meaning of Easter Sunday, the newspapers seemed to have focused more on the secular aspect. I’ve been seeing tons of photographs of kite-flying, kite-selling, Easter bunnies and Easter hat shows but no visible representation (in our daily newspapers) of what the past couple of days (holidays) have truly been about.

Yours faithfully,
Leon Jameson Suseran
