Like Obama, Jagdeo should look at the future not back at the past

Dear Editor,
President Barack Obama since coming to eminence has always been impressive. His speech at the opening of the conference in Trinidad & Tobago was equally impressive; what he said in very few words has given me food for thought.

President Obama said that his purpose is to look at the future and not at the past. He was cautious to explain that although the past may provide useful information the important thing is to look at the future if you wish to have things done. There was great applause at the end of his statement and I keep wondering whether or not our government officials in Guyana have paid any heed.
Every time any problem arises in Guyana the first thing the present government officials do is to look at the past and blame the PNC for the current state of affairs, despite the fact that they are now in government for over sixteen years.

President Jagdeo and his ministers who seem to be impressed with President Obama’s efficient handling of political matters ought to take a pattern off President Obama’s style and start looking to the future rather than at the past.
Deal with Clico and the future and not look back at Globe Trust.
Yours faithfully,
JMF Coddett
