Mr Bisram should remember the poem ‘If’

Dear Editor,

I have just read Mr Bisram’s latest letter (‘Letter was misunderstood,’ SN May 14).  He comes across as a highly articulate, intelligent man, and it may serve him in good stead to remember the following lines from Rudyard Kipling’s famous poem ‘If.’

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools…

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!

In the meantime, best wishes.

Yours faithfully,
Geralda Dennison
