Dear Editor,
A building is being constructed at the corner of Crown and Oronoque streets, Queenstown. They took no precaution when unloading sand, stones, etc, to prevent the sand from falling into the gutter, so that is where some of it went. The day after Mr Royston King replied to a letter by a resident that all would be fixed, all that was done was a board was placed over the gutter and the unloading continued.

No sand was removed from the gutter. The sand takes over the pavement and half of the road.
About 12 days ago a pipe was broken on the parapet. I personally called GWI for a week every day last week, and as of today Sunday, May 17, nothing has been fixed. As a result of the leaking pipe the gutter is full to the top, so when the rain comes the flooding on the pavement, on the road and in the homes and yards will be much worse.
Crown and Almond streets, which are bordered by Oronoque and New Garden streets, flood very easily, so I am appealing to City Hall to please clean the gutters and alleyways in the above-mentioned streets. I am appealing to GWI to please fix the broken pipe on the parapet in Crown Street.
The reference given on Monday, May 11 was QI – 1957.
Yours faithfully,
Name and address provided
