Good news from two ministries

Dear Editor,

I wish to compliment two ministries for what I feel is good news. The first is the Ministry of Works which from information gleaned from one of the TV stations has said that the road electrification programme to Timehri is almost complete. This is long overdue and would be welcomed by all who use the road at night in addition to residents along the route who need lights for security.

The second ministry is that of the Home Affairs, which published a notice in the newspapers  relating to complaints of noise nuisance from persons residing in various police divisions. The notice said that the ministry had made checks on the complaints at specified times and verified the validity and justification of the complaints. It went on to state that the relevant divisional commanders had been provided with the details and had been directed to take appropriate action in compliance with subsection (1) section 174A of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act Chapter 8:02 as amended by the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) (Amendment) Act 1989. The ministry must be complimented for their initiative and I trust that there will be some satisfaction for the complainants.

Yours faithfully,
(Name and address provided)
