Dear Editor,
I write with reference to a Kaieteur News article captioned ‘Guysuco without legal counsel as company secretary resigns’ which appeared on page 3 of its Friday, July 31, 2009 edition.

I wish to state that I find the aforesaid article rather distasteful. I further wish to unequivocally state that my resignation was in no way connected to the speculations within the aforesaid article.

For the clarification of any ambiguity, my resignation is the pre-emptive step towards my acceptance of a state appointment which was with the concurrence of the Government of Guyana and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Guyana Sugar Corporation Inc.

In conclusion, I would like to advise media houses that before they sensationalise the personal decisions of state employees it would have been prudent if Kaieteur News had contacted me for clarification since such inactions or omissions may be deemed irresponsible and mischievous.

Yours faithfully,
Bibi Shabena Ali
Company Secretary/Legal Officer
Guyana Sugar Corporation Inc
