Can’t get GT&T to move antenna

Dear Editor,

I used to receive a landline service from an antenna which was attached to my neighbour’s house.  I was given notice by my neighbour that the house would be broken down, so I informed GT&T of this in November 2008 and was told when the phone no longer works then the antenna would be transferred. I submitted my complaint in writing to New Amsterdam branch in December 2008. The house was broken down in January 2009, but the wall which the antenna was attached to remained until March because I asked for some more time, during which I tried to get GT&T to transfer the antenna, but to no avail. When I contacted New Amsterdam branch I was told that they had received no complaint and was told to contact Georgetown, but when I did so, I was referred back to New Amsterdam.

I was finally visited by a technician in July 2009, but was again told that they had not received any written complaint and he did not know the nature of the problem so he was not equipped to transfer the antenna. He promised to revisit within a day or two but I am still waiting.

I have been without a service for over five months now and to top it all off, I am still being charged a monthly rental.

The last time I had a problem with my phone I was given the same treatment by GT&T and only got their attention after I published a letter in the papers. I only hope that GT&T can improve on their customer service, because this is unacceptable.

Yours faithfully,
Bibi R Razack
