The Government of Guyana as reported in both the Stabroek News and Kaieteur News of August 1, is on the defensive and is denying purchasing the spy equipment CSM Laptop Model No. 7806 and accuses Enrico Woolford of being biased. Mr Woolford was reporting exactly what Peter Myers testified in the Brooklyn federal court, and this is fair journalism, as I sat in the packed court to hear Mr Myers’ testimony.

Peter Myers, co-director of Smith Myers Electronic, with a sales office in Florida, under cross examination by the prosecutor said under oath, that the laptop equipment was purchased by the Government of Guyana at a cost of US$75,000, and that it was designed for use only for law enforcement to monitor and intercept cellular phone calls. No individual or citizen can purchase this equipment. Evidence relating to the items was an exhibit in the Brooklyn court.

The government denial is preposterous.
